Kerala MLA Antony Raju was disqualified after 35 years for tampering with evidence in a 1990 drug case. An Australian, Andrew Cervelli, was caught smuggling hashish in underwear at Thiruvananthapuram airport. Raju, his lawyer, allegedly resized the garment smaller with a court clerk to mislead investigators. A court recently sentenced him to three years in jail, leading to his disqualification.
