Over 27% of German population have a migrant background: Survey

A new survey published by Germany's statistics agency Destatis found people with a migrant background make up over 27% of Germany's population. From around 82 million people living in the country, an estimated 22.3 million are foreign-born or people with foreign roots. Turkey is the largest point of origin with 12%, followed by Poland with 10% and Russia with 6%.
