Forest officials use Archimedes' principle to rescue elephant from well in Odisha

Forest officials in Odisha's Keonjhar district used Archimedes' principle to rescue a male elephant that fell into a 30-foot-deep well by pumping water into it to make it float upward. A video of the operation went viral. Archimedes' principle states that an object immersed in fluid experiences an upward buoyant force equal to the weight of the fluid it displaces.
