Trinidad and Tobago to become 1st Caribbean nation to adopt UPI

Trinidad and Tobago is set to become the first country in the Caribbean region to adopt India's UPI. Trinidad and Tobago's High Commissioner to India, Chandradath Singh, said the country is actively working to implement a UPI-based payment system. The development comes as India prepares to introduce a Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) on specific UPI Person-to-Merchant (P2M) transactions above ₹2,000.
