Solar storm could trigger auroras from September 8-9

A fresh burst of solar activity has triggered geomagnetic disturbances, raising the possibility of vivid purple and green auroras on September 8-9. A G1 geomagnetic storm watch remains in effect, potentially pushing auroras farther from the polar regions. Auroras have appeared across parts of northern Europe and the United States on September 7 and 8.
