Japan may have spent up to $58.97 billion to support the yen, central bank data indicated on Friday. The estimated intervention followed the currency's slide to a four-decade low, which has raised concerns over higher import and energy costs. The move marked Japan's first yen-buying, dollar-selling intervention in three months.
