Delhi recorded its lowest average AQI for January-May period in eight years, excluding 2020 when Covid-19 lockdowns reduced transport and economic activities, according to CAQM. AQI was 211 in 2026, compared with 214 in 2025, 231 in 2024, and 213 in 2023. Delhi's average AQI in May this year was 157, second lowest in eight years (barring 2020 and 2021).
