The 63-year-old veteran diplomat Taranjit Singh Sandhu will replace Vinai Kumar Saxena as Delhi's Lieutenant Governor. A 1988-batch IFS officer, he served as India's Ambassador to the US from 2020 to 2024 before joining the BJP and losing the Lok Sabha elections from the Amritsar seat. Formerly, he served as High Commissioner to Sri Lanka from 2017 to 2020.
