Airlines oppose 'no seat selection fee' rule, warn of fare hike

The Federation of Indian Airlines opposed the government's 'no seat-selection fee for 60% of seats on flights' rule, warning of adverse effects on aviation sector. It said such fees are a key source of revenue and cautioned that airlines may raise ticket fares to offset losses caused by new rules. At present, seat-selection fee is levied on almost all seats.
