Largest known ultra-fast spinning asteroid found
Astronomers have identified the largest known ultra-fast spinning asteroid, measuring around 2.53 km in diameter. Named 491384, the asteroid completes one rotation in 4.18 minutes, according to a study based on data from the Vera C Rubin Observatory. The asteroid is likely made of solid rock rather than loosely bound debris to prevent itself from tearing apart, the study added.
