Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma opined that Aditya Dhar's 'Dhurandhar 2' can challenge the dominance of southern cinema. "If 'Dhurandhar 2' creates numbers like ₹1500-₹2,000 crore, then all the South films will go for a toss," Varma said. He also said that many action films from the southern film industries still rely on "old-school" style of storytelling and spectacle.
