Strait of Hormuz is a major oil supply route and holds a large cluster of undersea fibre optic cables, which carry about a quarter of global data traffic. The ongoing crisis could disrupt the cables, which could affect Indian stock market, banking system, UPI, ATMs and mobile apps. As it'll directly affect internet connectivity, payments may slow down or fail.
