Red flag: SC on LS Speaker's 3-month delay in deciding disqualification of 20 rebel TMC MPs

Supreme Court called the three-month delay by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in deciding disqualification petitions against 20 rebel TMC MPs a "red flag". The court was hearing TMC General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee's plea seeking expeditious disposal of petitions. However, it didn't imposed a fixed deadline for the Speaker. The 20 Lok Sabha MPs had joined the NCPI.
