How does summer heat affect fertility in men and women?

Fertility Specialist Dr Meera Jindal said heat triggers the release of cortisol, which reduces the levels of key reproductive hormones in men and women. She said women are more vulnerable to heat strain due to physiological factors, adding, "From disrupted ovulation and poor egg quality, the burden of heat on women is glaring." High temperatures reduce sperm quality, she added.
