States struggling to reply as demography panel seeks religion-wise data: Report

The high-level committee on demographic changes has sought religion-wise data for the past 15 years on birth, vehicles, school enrolment and property transactions, with state governments struggling to respond, The Hindu reported. Government departments do not ordinarily maintain such data on a religion-wise basis, the report added. The panel has also sought data on unusual increases in Aadhaar.
