Scientists studying comet 3I/ATLAS have found that the interstellar object likely formed 10-12 billion years ago in a primordial planetary system. The comet, which has a diameter of around 2.6 km, is probably the oldest-known object to venture through the solar system, a researcher said. Notably, 3I/ATLAS is only the third interstellar object ever spotted in the solar system.
