Mathematician spends 20 years building 'unsolvable' problem, GPT-5.4 cracks it on 11th attempt

A Polish mathematician, Bartosz Naskręcki, spent nearly 20 years crafting a research-level math problem, which he said can't be solved by AI. During testing, GPT-5.4 attempted the challenge 11 times and succeeded once. Bartosz, who had earlier called AI just a "very advanced calculator", said, "I am deeply impressed. The solution is very nice, clean, and feels almost human."
