Spirit Airlines is preparing to cease operations after its plan to secure a $500 million rescue package from the government failed, the Wall Street Journal reported. US President Donald Trump recently said his administration could buy the cash-strapped carrier and "sell it for a profit". Shares of the airline crashed more than 70% intraday on Friday following the news.
