India is planning to acquire six additional Boeing P-8I Poseidon aircraft in a reported ₹36,200 crore deal from the US. Often dubbed 'submarine hunters', the multi-mission aircraft is designed for anti-submarine, intelligence gathering, surveillance and search-and-rescue operations. The P-8I is equipped with advanced sensors, Mark 54 lightweight torpedoes and Harpoon anti-ship missiles.
