India wanted to put red flags on chip packets & soda but Big Food firms pushed back: Report
FSSAI had, during a March meeting, mulled putting red flags on chip packets and soda bottles to inform consumers of high sugar/fat content, but later "buckled" under Big Food companies' pressure, Reuters reported. The companies' executives called the labels confusing and ineffective. Coca-Cola India's Mili Bhattacharya said Indian doctors had taught their patients well about which foods to avoid.
