Chinese scientists have identified eight unusual cave-like openings on Mars. Found in the Hebrus Valles region, the features differ from volcanic lava tubes, appearing instead to be skylights formed by chemical erosion due to underground water flow. The study suggests that these structures could have provided sheltered environments capable of preserving signs of past microbial life.
