In a diplomatic win for India, Bimal N Patel has been elected as a Judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) in New York. He will serve a nine-year term from 2026 to 2035. Based in Hamburg, Germany, ITLOS resolves disputes between nations related to maritime boundaries, navigation rights and activities in ocean areas.
