Mumbai topped Indian cities with the highest road traffic carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions/kilometre of road, mainly due to its dense vehicle population, according to a new study published in Scientific Data. Delhi and Bengaluru joined Mumbai as the three largest contributors to total road traffic CO₂ emissions nationwide. The study analysed daily road emissions in 15 Indian cities in 2021.
