Blind, blood-red fish discovered in underground waters in Assam

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma shared what he called a "fascinating discovery" of a rare fish found in deep underground waters in Goalpara. The species, named Gitchak nakana, is the first groundwater-dwelling fish ever recorded in Northeast India. According to reports, researchers have identified the fish as a tiny, blind, blood-red species that inhabits subterranean waters.
