Colombian lawmakers have successfully passed a bill to outlaw child marriage in the country after a 17-year-long campaign led by various groups. The bill, which needs to be signed into law by the country's President, will prohibit marriage for anyone who is aged below 18 years. Earlier, Colombia's civil code allowed minors with parental consent to marry.
