Humans grow fastest during infancy, when babies can gain 25-30 cm in a year, making it the quickest growth phase in life. The second-fastest growth spurt happens during puberty, when adolescents typically grow 8-10 cm annually. The pubertal growth spurt stops at around age 16 for girls and 18 for boys.
