Hundreds of Israeli soldiers storm Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem

Nearly 250 Israeli settlers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem and performed rituals under Israeli security protection, reports said. Under the longstanding 1967 status quo, non-Muslims may visit the compound but are not permitted to pray there. Israel captured East Jerusalem in 1967 and annexed it in 1980, a move not internationally recognised, Al Jazeera reported.
