India is likely to receive below-normal rainfall during the second half of the southwest monsoon (August–September), the IMD said in its monthly forecast on Friday. Rainfall is expected to be below 94% of the Long Period Average (LPA). The historical LPA for August-September, based on 1971–2020 data, is 422.8 mm across the country.
