Meta's $14-bn hire Wang reveals why Meta's poached AI talent left jobs, says 'Had to blitz it'

Meta AI chief Alexandr Wang, hired under a $14-billion deal, revealed why Meta "had to blitz it" to poach multiple AI engineers and researchers for Superintelligence Lab. He claimed the poached employees already had sizeable pay packages at OpenAI, Apple, DeepMind and Anthropic and didn't leave due to money. "People joined because there was high compute per researcher," he noted.
