Up to 30% passengers skip prepaid meals to save catering charges: IRCTC

Up to 30% of train passengers may be skipping prepaid meals while booking tickets to save catering costs, according to an estimate shared by IRCTC management. "People have started opting out and saving the catering charges," IRCTC Chairman and Managing Director Rahul Himalian said. Catering revenue still rose 33.9% year-on-year in Q1 FY27, making it the company's largest revenue segment.
