Prices of ruthenium, a critical mineral used in electronics, semiconductors and chemical processing, have surged to a record $1,750 per ounce, Reuters reported, citing LSEG data. The jump is driven by a supply crunch as demand rises amid the boom in AI-driven data storage and cloud computing. Ruthenium was priced at around $560 per ounce a year earlier.
