Without ethanol blending, petrol prices could have hit ₹125/litre: Govt

The government said that petrol prices could've touched around ₹125/litre during peak of West Asia crisis if ethanol blending hadn't reduced India's dependence on imported crude oil. "Consumers paid ₹94.77/litre as public sector oil marketing companies procured ethanol at around ₹70/litre," it added. There is no verified evidence of widespread engine failures linked to E20 fuel, it said.
