Election Commission officials said courts have rejected petitions challenging the reliability of the electronic voting machines (EVMs) at least 40 times. The SC on Friday rejected pleas seeking 100% cross-verification of EVM votes with VVPATs. The officials referred to remarks of CEC Rajiv Kumar that EVMs are "100% safe" and political parties know this in the "heart of their hearts".
