Why is SEBI demanding ₹165 crore from BSE?

SEBI ordered BSE Ltd to pay regulatory fee based on annual turnover by considering "notional value", the total value of the underlying asset in an option contract. However, BSE has been paying fee based on the annual turnover considering "premium value", the upfront value paid to buy an option contract. SEBI estimates BSE must pay ₹165 crore differential fee.
