Icelandic facility to capture CO2 & pump it underground starts ops

The world's largest direct air capture and storage facility called 'Mammoth', built by a Swiss firm called Climeworks, has commenced operations on a dormant Icelandic volcano. The plant is designed to capture 36,000 tons of CO2 annually, using 72 industrial fans, and pump the captured gas 2,300 feet underground. The buried CO2 then reacts with minerals to form crystals.
