The Federal Government of Germany is set to reduce bureaucracy and digitise the country’s passport and ID system, making it easier and faster for applicants to get their documents. Effective from the end of April 2025, there will be no obligation to submit passport based photos. The regulation will also implement the possibility of direct postal delivery of passports and id cards.
