Uttarakhand has opened 83 major Himalayan peaks, including Nanda Devi East and Kamet, for mountaineering expeditions in the Garhwal and Kumaon regions. "The Himalayas are our identity...Opening 83 major peaks for mountaineering is a historic step towards giving global recognition to adventure tourism," CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said. These peaks range from 5,700 metres to 7,756 metres in height.
