NASA scientists said the Parker Solar Probe observed solar wind making a rare U-turn near the Sun after analysing images taken during its closest-ever flyby in December 2024. The spacecraft captured a solar flare ejecting superheated plasma. Images showed some material thinning, changing direction and curling back towards the Sun, driven by strong magnetic fields.
