Chinese control of information making it harder to assess flood damage in Tibet

The scale of flash-flood devastation is emerging faster in Nepal than in Tibet, where China’s strict controls on information are limiting public access to details. Nepal’s death toll rose to 538 compared with five reported in Tibet, despite thousands living near affected border area. While Nepali journalists are interviewing survivors, Chinese state media is largely focused on rescue efforts.
