RCB beat CSK in Chennai after 17 years

144 killed, over 700 injured in Myanmar due to earthquake

At least 144 people have died after the strong 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on Friday, state-run MRTV said. Of these, the highest toll was reported in Nai Pyi Taw where 96 people died, followed by 30 in Mandalay and 18 in Saigaing. At least 732 others were wounded due to the earthquake, which was followed by a 6.4-magnitude aftershock.

Israel launches first strike on Beirut since November ceasefire

Cabinet approves 2% DA hike for central government employees, pensioners

Union Cabinet has approved a 2% dearness allowance/relief (DA/DR) hike for all 48.66 lakh central government employees and 66.55 lakh pensioners. According to a press release, the hike will be effective from January 1, 2025 and will take existing rate of 53% to 55% of the basic pay/pension. The DA/DR hike would cost additional ₹6,614.04 crore/annum to the government exchequer.

Video shows high-rise building collapsing in Bangkok as 2 earthquakes jolt Myanmar

Multiple videos surfaced online showing the effects of two earthquakes, measuring 7 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, that hit Myanmar on Friday at around 12 noon. An under-construction high-rise was seen collapsing in Thailand's capital Bangkok due to the tremors of the earthquakes. One video showed the water from an infinity pool spilling off the side of a high-rise.

CA Final exams to be held 3 times a year from 2025

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced that the CA Final exam will now be held three times a year instead of two. Last year, ICAI had taken a decision to hold the Intermediate and Foundation course exams three times a year. The exams will be held in the month of January, May and September, ICAI announced.
