The Income Tax Department on Thursday urged the people to file their income tax returns for the Assessment Year 2021-22 and tweeted, "The due date is December 31, 2021." The department's tweet came as several people on social media requested an extension in the deadline citing glitches on the portal. "24.39 lakh ITRs filed today itself," the department tweeted.
