Government explains why it changed discharge policy for coronavirus patients

While explaining why discharge policy for coronavirus patients was changed, government said a review of ICMR laboratory surveillance data indicated that after initial RT-PCR positive results, patients became negative after a median duration of 10 days. Recent studies suggested that viral load peaks in pre-symptomatic period (2 days before symptoms) and goes down over the next 7 days, it added.
