Gulzar, born as Sampooran Singh Kalra on August 18, 1934, won a Grammy and an Academy Award for the song 'Jai Ho' from the 2008 movie 'Slumdog Millionaire'. The poet and lyricist received India's third-highest civilian award Padma Bhushan in 2004 and was awarded the highest national award for cinema Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2014.
