Himachal Pradesh High Court ruled that donations made to Hindu temples cannot be used for the welfare scheme of the government. The court said the funds belong to the deity and not the government, adding, "Temple funds must be used for the temple’s religious purposes or dharmic charity." It also directed temples to maintain proper accounts of income and expenditure.
