Internet Freedom Foundation (IFF) has strongly criticised MeitY’s draft amendments to the IT Rules 2021, published on March 30. IFF warns changes dangerously expand executive control over online speech, weaken safe harbour protection, and enable greater censorship. Calling it “digital authoritarianism,” IFF has demanded immediate withdrawal and urged citizens to submit objections by 14 April 2026.
