The Lyrid meteor shower will peak this week, offering skygazers a chance to witness prolonged display of 'fireball shooting stars'. Active from April 14 to 30, the peak will occur late on April 21 through dawn on April 22. During this time, approximately 18 meteors per hour, travelling around 47 km per second, will be visible to the naked eye.
