Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the formation of Village Defence Groups (VDG) in Jammu and Kashmir. As per the revised scheme, persons leading the group in more vulnerable areas will receive ₹4,500 per month while other volunteers will receive ₹4,000 per month. The VDGs will function under the SP or SSP of the concerned district, the order said.
