Mickey Mouse enters public domain as Disney's copyright expires after 95 years

Mickey Mouse no longer belongs solely to The Walt Disney Company as an early version of the cartoon character entered the public domain for the first time as the company's copyright expired after 95 years. The early version was featured in Walt Disney's 1928 short film 'Steamboat Willie'. The US copyright law allows copyright to be held for 95 years.
