Parrots use names like humans to identify individuals: Study

A study showed that parrots use name-like vocal labels to identify individuals like humans and don't just mimic speech. Based on an analysis of over 880 captive parrots, researchers found that some birds applied names not only to a particular category, such as "people", but to a single individual. Sometimes, parrots said their own names in order to get attention.
