Radioactive iron of ancient supernovas buried in Antarctica: Study

A study published in Physical Review Letters found traces of microscopic radioactive iron from ancient supernovas buried in Antarctic ice. Researchers said this proves Earth and the rest of the solar system is sailing through a cloud of dust blasted out by exploding stars millions of years ago. The study analysed 295 kg of 40,000 to 80,000-year-old ice from Antarctica.
